Duquesa Charitable Society of St George

The St George Charity was founded at the beginning of 2013 initially as a fundraising organisation to provide funding, equipment and services to worthy causes within the local community.

As a registered association the St George Charity also provides a legal framework for individuals or groups to raise money under its umbrella (subject to approval and due diligence).

The St George Charity raises money through a number of channels including the charity shop in Calle Duquesa de Arcos, which opened at the beginning of 2014; collection tins in numerous local bars and restaurants; markets; online second hand shop; as well as money raised at a number of events such as the End of Summer Bash, and the Sabi Street Party. The St George Charity also receives donations from individual or group benefactors for which it is always grateful.

The St George Charity has made numerous donations to local causes including:

Age Concern, Manilva and Estepona

Emaus social kitchen in Estepona

Luisana – Manilva Handicapped Association

AFIMA – Fybromyalgia Charity in Manilva

Danii Children’s Cancer Charity

In addition to these donations the St George Charity also runs a Christmas Gift Appeal for underprivileged children and last Christmas (2014) provided a gift bag each for 490 children in Manilva, Casares, and Estepona, identified by Spanish Social Services as being in poverty.
